This website

Through this website I hope to share some of my experiences and thoughts around cycling. At times, others might also contribute. There is a lot of information out there and a lot of it offers only a basic level of sophistication. With Raceloop.com, my intention is to go a little deeper into the thinking behind what top athletes are doing in terms of training and racing. Most of the material is track related as this requires absolute precision and the theory is often applicable to other disciplines.

Who am I?

As a competitive cyclist since 1989, my racing experience spans across mountain bike, road, track and cyclocross disciplines. I have represented Australia at two mountain bike World Championships (’94 Junior and ’96 U23), competed in multiple mountain bike UCI World Cups, won multiple state championships on the track, ridden road at the national level and have held a scholarship at the Victorian Institute of Sport. I’ve also worked in Australia’s cycling administration as the Event Manager for Cycling Victoria. Here I was on the team which organised multiple national championships (on both road and track), mass participation rides, national series road events and many more. Finally, I am a Cycling Australia level 1 accredited cycling coach and on my way to level 2. Fortunately, I have been mentored by some of the Australia’s top national coaches both as an athlete and as a coach. Australia’s cycling system for developing elite cyclists is well developed and I’ve been lucky enough to experience it from the inside. Finally, I am involved in the Finnish cycling Federation’s high performance unit on the management committee and as leader of the CX group.

Webshop @ Raceloop.com

Attached to Raceloop.com is a small web shop  which sells to the Finnish market. The mission of the store is to support the cycle racing community by making racing and buying quality equipment more accessible. Raceloop.com offers a carefully curated a select list of parts that I think will offer reliable, lightweight performance from well renowned companies. I am very careful with my equipment selection and the parts offered on this website are the same parts that I would ride myself. If I wouldn’t ride it myself, Raceloop won’t sell it.

To buy from Raceloop.com you must have a delivery address in Finland, be a member of a Finnish Cycling Club and you must hold a valid racing license. We do not try to compete with local bike shops and we encourage all of our customers to support their local businesses.

Cheers
